Japanese Culture Day

EIS Celebrates a Vibrant Japanese Culture Day on February 7

EIS came alive with the colors, sounds, and traditions of Japan on Friday, February 7, as students, parents, and staff gathered for an unforgettable Japanese Culture Day (JCD). The event showcased the rich heritage of Japan through interactive booths, performances, and traditional food, fostering cultural appreciation and inclusivity within the school community.

Exciting Performances and Hands-On Activities
The highlight of the day was the thrilling Ninja Show, which took place from 12:00 to 12:40. Students and teachers watched in awe as performers displayed incredible agility, martial arts skills, and stealthy ninja techniques.

Another engaging experience was Japanese calligraphy (Shodō) by Mr. Nobuo, where students had the opportunity to try their hand at the traditional art of writing with ink and brush.

The school was filled with interactive booths that allowed students to experience different aspects of Japanese culture. Some of the most popular attractions included:
✅ Face mask decoration
✅ Water balloon yo-yos
✅ Takoyaki ball throw
✅ Origami table
✅ Kamishibai (Japanese storytelling)
✅ Kite making
✅ Super ball pool
✅ Karuta and Hyakunin Isshu Taikai competitions
✅ Bonsai making and Kendama tricks

A Ninja athletic course had students testing their agility, while a Stamp Rally encouraged them to visit different booths to collect stamps and win prizes.

Secondary School Group Activities
From 13:30 to 15:10, students rotated through small group activities designed to immerse them in traditional Japanese customs:
🎨 Calligraphy workshops
🍵 Tea Ceremony
🎤 Karaoke sessions

These activities allowed students to not only learn but also participate in authentic cultural practices, creating lasting memories of the event.

A Taste of Japan: Food Trucks Delight the Crowd
No cultural celebration is complete without food, and the Japanese Culture Day was no exception! EIS students and staff enjoyed an array of delicious Japanese street food from four food trucks, offering:
🍡 Dango
🍜 Yakisoba
🐙 Takoyaki
🍠 Sweet potatoes

A Celebration of Community and Culture
The success of Japanese Culture Day at EIS highlighted the school’s dedication to fostering diversity, inclusivity, and cultural appreciation.
