  • Teaching positions mandate a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, valid teaching certification, and three years’ experience as a qualified full-time teacher in a school system similar to EIS.

  • EIS accepts internships from university students who are searching for field experience as well as fresh undergraduates who would like to gain experience in an international school setting.

  • EIS is evolving with a clear vision; thus, individuals who thrive as ‘school builders’ may find fulfilment here.

  • The campus is smoke-free, and accessibility is easiest by public transport. It is a 10 minute walk from Nagoya station.  

  • Childcare for non-Japanese speakers in Nagoya can be challenging, particularly for those with infant children. EIS has classes for children ages 1-18 years old many staff members have children who attend our school. 

  • The EIS package supports comfortable living for teaching couples and single teachers, but it may not be suitable for single wage earners with multiple dependents.

  • EIS is situated in the centre of Nagoya City, it is ideal for those who appreciate and enjoy living in the city.

  • EIS is a small close-knit community with small class sizes that  foster personalised attention, meaningful interactions, and a supportive environment, allowing you to make a significant impact and flourish in your teaching journey.

    General Teacher Requirements, Roles and Responsibilities:

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in the academic field related to the position applied
    • Teacher certification from a recognized institution
    • Native English speaker (or high level of fluency) – including in writing
    • At least 3 years’ experience in the classroom at the school level (primary or secondary) relevant to the position applied for preferably in an IB, multicultural or international context
    • Experience in inquiry-based curriculum
    • Willingness to work for at least 3 years at EIS

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Preparation, marking, report writing, and all other administration related to the teaching of the subject(s)
    • Participate in departmental meetings, planning, in-service training activities, and invigilation duties as required by the administrators
    • Work closely with the IB Coordinator and other colleagues to develop curriculum as needed
    • Be available to conference with students out of class
    • Promptly pass information to advisors and Coordinators when student’s attendance, academic performance, or behavior is praiseworthy or giving cause for concern
    • To be available for work on campus in good time to complete all necessary preparations and meetings before the start of the term
    • To respect the confidential nature of discussions at staff meetings and other contexts in which sensitive information is likely to be communicated – particularly in terms of interaction with students
    • Support school life by chaperoning activities, clubs, field trips, camp, and being an advisor to a group of students
    • Fulfill other duties as required by the administrators

    CURRICULUM

    • Create a curriculum with lessons, units, themes, and work that provides student growth and development
    • Work with the rest of the school team to create transdisciplinary (primary level) or interdisciplinary (secondary level) units and occupations that connect to a variety of subjects
    • Deliver meaningful lessons and guide experiences that develop student skills and engagement
    • Provide appropriate and timely feedback on student work
    • Organize day trips connected to the curriculum that get students out into the community
