Embracing Japanese Culture: Enishi International School Celebrates in Style
Enishi International School marked a vibrant and enriching celebration of Japanese Culture Day on February 9th, captivating students, parents, and staff alike in a colorful array of activities and performances. From the youngest learners to the secondary school students, the day was a testament to the school’s commitment to cultural appreciation and education.
The festivities commenced with the Early Learning Center (ELC) children and their parents, setting the tone for a day filled with excitement and cultural exploration. One of the highlights of the event was a mesmerizing Kendama show by the talented Mr. Yusuke Ito, captivating audiences with his dexterity and skill in this traditional Japanese toy.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in various traditional Japanese games and activities, immersing themselves in the rich tapestry of Japanese culture. From the playful “Bean Catcher” to the spirited competition of “Paper Sumo,” there was something for everyone to enjoy. “Donjanken,” “Golden Fish,” “Fukuwarai,” and “Karuta” added layers of fun and intrigue to the celebration, offering insights into the diverse traditions and customs of Japan.
Secondary school students showcased their creativity and artistic prowess through calligraphy sessions, mastering the intricate strokes of Japanese characters under the guidance of skilled instructors. Additionally, students indulged in the joyous melodies of karaoke, lending their voices to popular Japanese tunes and fostering a sense of camaraderie and cultural exchange.
The spirit of unity and camaraderie permeated the event as parents, students, and staff came together to celebrate and learn about Japanese culture. In addition to the festivities, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) organized a captivating kamishibai storytelling session and a delightful book fair, providing further opportunities for families to engage with Japanese culture and literature. The book fair featured an array of English and Japanese books, allowing students and parents to explore diverse literary works and expand their horizons. From classic tales to contemporary bestsellers, there was something for readers of all ages and interests to discover.
